The Big Fish | |
“The FISH”, as it is known by today, was constructed of wire, wood and a special type of cement or plaster by a man named Konnickson around 1944. She was originally constructed as a marketing piece for Phil Cook who was the owner of Northwest Bait Company. She stood in front of Northwest Bait Company for approximately 10 years but as the business expanded she began to get in the way. The Cooks did not want to see their monstrous friend destroyed so they donated it to the village. For more than 50 years, “The FISH” has faithfully guarded the entrance to the Deer River Welcome House. |
